NBTC continues to sell MVNO licenses despite lack of regulation

NBTC brings the total MVNO license issued in Thailand to 47

Once again, Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has been active handing out MVNO licenses bringing the total MVNO license issued in Thailand to 47.

The NBTC license boutique keeps spitting out MVNO license, unfortunately it does not follow up with regulations or support, and therefore only 10 or so MVNOs have actually launched.

The latest MVNO license is just an example of NBTC’s handing out MVNO licenses left and right. Original Network Co., Ltd. (บริษัท ออริจินอล เน็ทเวิร์ค จำกัด) was awarded a Non Facilities based MVNO (Thin MVNO) license valid from March 3, 2017 to March 2, 2022.

According to Mtoday the DSI was investigating Original Network Co., Ltd., back in January 2016 after the opening of a MLM franchise with an alleged 2,000 victims, 500 million baht in damages, preliminary arrest of one person and over THB 200 million in assets seizure.
